Welcome to Pannovation

The word PANNOVATION is an acronym:  Pre_Approval_Not_Needed.  Pannovation focuses on the possibility to start, and in many cases complete, innovation projects without having to ask for permission in advance, also for people not being part of formal organizations. Pannovation is about creating optimal condition for creativity and innovation - and a key aspect of Pannovation is "The Gatefree Space".

The Pannovation blog

A new year

A new year, 2012, with new possibilities. It will be exciting to see what will happen this year. What will change in the innovation landscape? Which trends will become visible?

TEDx talk on Pannovation

Recently, I was invited to talk at a TEDx, held in Helsingborg, Sweden. The topic was Pannovation. Please find link below. It was a very stimulation experince. The event was well organized.

Renewable energy

Renewable energy - a very desirable thing. I know a realiable source: creativity. Ideas generate new and other ideas. The mind venturing into uncharted land: exciting.

Walking my ideas

I often take a walk early in the morning, before starting to work.

Pannovation - the concept

The word PANNOVATION is an acronym, the first part of the word stands for Pre_Approval_Not_Needed.  Pannovation focuses on the possibility to start innovation projects without having to ask for permission, also for people not being part of formal organizations.   The innovation landscape of today is rich, diverse and dynamic. It provides a multitude of opportunities also outside traditional organizations. People and groups can generate ideas, and elaborate to various stages of completion.

The Gatefree Space

The gatefree space is a key component of Pannovation. It is the space in which ideas can dwell and roam before hitting hard points of evaluation, criteria and stop/go decisions. In that space, ideas can evolve, improve, mature, and become more robust. They can combine with other ideas. They can find new usage and application. They can acquire new components and features. When people do innovation on their own accord, they typically risk their own time and effort – that means that they can experiment with leeway and latitude.

Proposal

A grand proposal (Download as .pdf)

Introduction

I propose that cities and regions establish Gatefree Innovation Reserves (GIR: s). GIR:s are spaces specifically designed and maintained to enable effective realization of ideas into concrete innovations, with minimum inference of gatekeeping structures.

What is it?

Presentfuture

PresentFuture is a really odd and very strange phenomenon. Parts and pieces of the future being present here and now, in this very moment, allowing glimpses of what exists tomorrow. Typically as just small fragments or segments, like samples or snippets.. The mechanism behind this strange phenomenon is completely unknown. It is also impossible to know how distant things are…one year or many? Or decades away, or more?

Gatekeeping Geography

The Pannovation concept can used to spot where the new emerges. The new tend to emerge where the resistance is not too strong, the hurdles not too high, and the gates not too narrow.  Gatekeeping structures can be visualized as geography, as a topographical map. The reach, strengths, and influence of different gatekeeping functions correspond to heights and hills, and narrow gaps, requiring effort and time to pass. In between them there are valleys and flatlands - spaces where ideas can evolve and be realized.   The geography isn´t static, it changes, like the face of the Earth.
